I am an ardent fighter against those miracle diets, which pretend to get rid of an impressive number of kilograms in less than two weeks. After a so-called miracle diet, nutritional deficiencies start to appear, then states of anaemia, anorexia or bulimia. Monodiets that promise weight loss of 3 to 10 kilograms in one week lead to a serious lack of nutrients in the body, weakening the immune system, bones become fragile and risk of anaemia related to a gland dysfunction is very high.
Because of the protein-based diets, which are among the most popular, most people feel tired, experience dizziness, nausea, bad mood and unhealthy skin. Typically, these diets lead to metabolic disorders to the liver, kidneys and blood vessels. Fat-free diets, considered extreme diets promise losing three kilograms per week, but when the daily rations of fat drop below 19 percent, the good cholesterol that protects the heart and blood vessels by arteriosclerosis, starts to fall to a very unhealthy level.
